2017 Best Places to Work in Virginia

American Global Logistics was recently named as one of the 2017 Best Places to Work in Virginia. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Virginia was created by Virginia Business and Best Companies Group.

This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. The 2017 Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of 100 companies.

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

– Be a publicly or privately held business;

– Have a facility in the state of Virginia;

– Have at least 15 employees working in the state of Virginia; and

– Be in business a minimum of 1 year.

This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Virginia and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final ranking.

AGL Receives a 2016 Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award

greensupplylogo_2016Suppy & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s manual for successful supply and deman chain transformation, has selected American Global Logistics as a recipient of an SDCE Green Supply Chain Award for 2016.

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
This year’s ninth-annual awards recognize small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.

“Our honorees are showing that the bottom line and corporate responsibility are not mutually exclusive,” says Ronnie Garrett, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “This has been increasingly evident over the past few years and is relatively clear with the large number of entries we received this year—almost 200—for our annual green awards. Sustainability has, for these companies, become a key part of their supply chain strategies.”

“Our goal is to honor those companies in our annual awards and credit them with the recognition they deserve,” Garrett adds. “They have recognized the need for supply chain sustainability, something that’s not always easy to do.”

About Supply & Demand Chain Executive

Supply & Demand Chain Executive is the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, utilizing hard-hitting analysis, viewpoints, and unbiased case studies to steer executives and supply management professionals through the complicated, yet critical, world of supply and demand chain enablement to gain competitive advantage.

AGL Atlanta Recipient of 2016 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Awards

The award program recognizes organizations that understand the link between employee health and well-being and organizational performances and have implemented a variety of workplace practices in an active effort to create a positive work environment.

“In this time of high job stress and increasing demands on employees, exemplary workplaces have made it a priority to create environments that are sensitive to the health and well-being of their workers,” says Dr. Joni Prince, the association’s Psychology in the Workplace Network Chair. “By recognizing these organizations for their efforts, we hope others will take notice and implement similar programs in their workplaces”.

Each applicant was judged on criteria including: employee involvement, health and safety, employee growth and development, work-life balance and employee recognition.

According to a 2012 released national survey by the American Psychological Association, many Americans report chronic work stress, with two out of five (41percent) employees reporting that they typically feel tense or stressed out during the workday. Meanwhile, employees who feel valued are more likely to report better physical and mental health, as well as higher levels of engagement, satisfaction and motivation, compared to those who do not feel valued by their employers.

Inc. Magazine Unveils 35th Annual List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies – Inc. 5000

For the fifth consecutive year, Inc. Magazine has included American Global Logistics (AGL) on its annual Inc. 500/5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. AGL is one of the leading International Freight Forwarders in the U.S., renowned for excellent customer service, cloud-based trade management technology and flexible rate options. Led by a team of the top ranked executives in the industry, AGL supports its customers’ logistics needs anytime, anywhere in the world.

Inc. 5000, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment – its independent small businesses.

Started in 1982, this prestigious list of the nation’s most successful private companies has become the hallmark of entrepreneurial success.

The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $200 billion, and the companies on the list collectively generated 640,000 jobs over the past three years, or about 8% of all jobs created in the entire economy during that period. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000 (http://www.inc.com/inc5000) .

“The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts”, says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “It honors real achievement by a founder or a team of them. No one makes the Inc.5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails”.

Methodology

The 2016 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2012 to 2015. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March, 2012. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2015. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2012 is 1000,000; the minimum for 2015 is $2 million.
