US Readies Tariffs for $50 Billion of Chinese Goods

The Trump administration reaffirmed its intention to place 25 percent tariffs on $50 billion of Chinese goods. The announcement of which imports will be subject to the duties is scheduled for June 15 with the tariffs expected to be imposed not long after. The tariffs will target cutting-edge technologies including those that are a focus of China’s “Made in China 2025” program, aimed at positioning China as a world leader in burgeoning fields of technology including artificial intelligence and electric cars.
